Brief: Amal and her team contacted us to design her personal website showcasing her casework, speaking engagements and news all in one place. She specifically requested that the site should not scroll and be easily navigable through a series of ‘cover pages’ from which the user can either delve deeper into the information or skim over to the next piece of content. Information should be easily accessible and found regardless of where the user was on the website.
Approach: For one of the design solutions I decided to go with a layered approach, giving the site several different areas the user can interact with as well as allowing me to have a little flexibility regarding scrolling content. Whereas the site itself is fixed, some content boxes could hold a lot of information without creating clutter. This layered approach also allowed me to design multiple navigation options that linked to sub-categories and several different sets of content. Finally, I decided to use burnt orange as the main highlight colour since it is strong, professional, feminine and reminded me of Lebanon where Amal is originally from.
